Lecture: The Chandayana: one of the Earliest Illustrated Sufi Manuscripts of Hindustan
Chandayana, also known as Laur-chanda, was made during the Tughlaq to Lodhi dynasties of the Sultanate period. It exists in five illustrated versions, each in a different painting style. The story of Chandayana allows an insight into the importance of Sultanates painting as well as revealing their hybrid cultures; which consisted of influences from Persian and Indian ideas.
